My Needs Vs. My Commitments

captain_slinkySam Crowe has not contacted us regarding the money we owe him. Three-hunnert-and-some dollars, just sitting there in our bank account, waiting for him to get hold of us and tell us how he wants the money.
$300 sitting there, and us officially "broke" till Friday the 23rd.
...And "Big Fish" in my favorite theater right now.
...And a stack of comic books sitting in my Subscription Box at The Comic Stop.
...And Soprano's Pizza in Ballard offering a new crustless pizza called "The Atkins Adict".
...And an entire expansion of Hero Clix that I've only bought one booster pack of.
It's going to be a long, hard weekend full of temptation and, ultimately, betrayal. But that's okay! We'll have enough money to pay off Sam *next weekend*, right? So it will be okay to BORROW funds from the money we put aside, right?
RIGHT???

Date: 2004-01-16 10:22 am (UTC)Here's the way I see it - most of the stuf you mentioned (save for maybe the movie) is all stuf that will *still* be there on Friday the 23rd. So, you can rationalise a wait for those things, at least.
What if this proverbial Sam calls sometime during the week wanting the money? If you've borrowed against it, then you can't give it to him. So... if you think you're going to spend it, is there someone you can give it to to hold for you until he calls? This is what I often do with bill money.
