I'm thinking of getting a table at the Emerald City Comic Book Convention this February. I'm not going to even go NEAR any of my loose action figures... this is going to be an opportunity to get rid of the vast majority of my MOC figures, board games and Lunch Boxes. Plus, I've been accumulating a good supply of "hot" comics that I should get rid of before they're nothing more than quarter bin fodder.

The timing of the convention is perfect; it's the weekend before we plan to go to Disney World. That would give me a nice bost in the "Wasteful Sending & Souvineers" department! 'Cuz Disney just ain't a vacation unless you spend $55 on a cardboard hat and an ill-fitting T-Shirt!

The down side, of course, is missng out on the actual convention itself. And it's going to be a two-day convention this year, which makes it difficult to keep everythng stocked-up and looking full for the entire 2 days. mean, sure, I could just take time out at the end of day one and go get more stuff frm the storage unit, but do I have enough stuff fr TWO DAYS of selling?

I wish I was in Seattle in February. I would so work the table for you, then you could go and enjoy the con. (I actually rather see a con behind a table, I have major anxiety problems.)

You are going to the Florida Disney instead of the California one? I was just curious what made you choose that one.

I actually prefer DisnyLand over Disney World, but everyone else wants to go to "World" n Florida. Personally, it scares the crap out of me. Too big, to educational, too... too "Not Disney". I mean, Walt never even got to *see* Disney Wrld open, so it just seems so impersonal. Like The Disney Corporation capitalizing on the brand name, ya know? But DisneyLand is different... that was Walt's *dream*. He walked the streets nearly every day, making sure that everything was just right. It was like one of his dreams that he invited you to take a walk through, and there's smething just historic and wonderful about being there in The Magic Kingdom that I don't think can be compared to any other place on Earth, regardless of how big or technologically advanced the other park may be.

So in short, we're going to DisneyWorld instead of DisneyLand because everyone else wants to go to the Big Park, and we['ve been to DisneyLan before.

Don't you have all that stuf in your storage unit? Clean it out - sell some stuf off. You've come to the conclusion recently that you're not doing the comic book store anytime soon; this is a great opp to get rid of some of it. Otherwise, you're just wasting X amount of money per year on storage! Plus, extra pocket money = good! And you and Crystal could take turns manning the table/checking out the convention... I think it's a great idea.

Yeah, that's pretty much the plan in a nutshell (it would normaly be up to [livejournal.com profile] dotgirl to man the table fr me, but she's got the whole grown-up-mommy-thing to do. But I've been traning Crystal well in the ways of salesmanship; I think I can trust her with the table while I check things out!

But then there's the other snag; the stuff in storage is *my* stuff. I LIKE my stuff! They're my THINGS... THINGS I've collected over time and that are mine! How can I possibly part with them???

Because when was the last time you looked at them? They're in storage! They're not doing anything for you! It's just the *idea* of them. Use the money and do something with it. Take Crystal and do something or go somewhere. I know that you often say here you don't have lots of extra cash - this is an opportunity to get some and do something with it.

I'm a packrat as much as the next person (possibly more, in some cases) but you have to realise a limit at some point.

Alternately, you can use the money to buy more Things. Different things.

You know that I would be totally willing to take over while you roam the con! I would be happy to sell off some stuff!

OoOh! That would give Riley the opertunity to wear this Superman outfit. Does he still have it? I can't remember what size it was, so I don't know if it would fit, but it would amuse the geeks I bet.

Dude! You have enough stuff for TWO WEEKS of selling. They could have the whole damn convention AT your storage room. I could stand in the center of your living room blind and drunk with one of those sticky-rubber-hand-on-a-cord things that were so cool back in 1986 and, using only it and Safeway bags, accrue enough things to open my OWN booth at the convention.
