Scooby Doo Movie
Jun. 15th, 2002 12:18 pmBecause I love my Niece, I ended up going to see the Scooby Doo Movie last night. Hoo boy... where to start?
First off, even though she is very pretty, very hot, and very sexy, their "Velma" was NOT MY Velma. My Velma is cute, and slightly pudgy. It's like someone paid a hooker to dress up like Velma because he had some wonderful fantasy about taking her for a ride in his OWn Mystery Machine and getting so caught up in solving the mystery that the two of them just fell in to an exhausted heap of true passion that... uh...
...It wasn't a good Velma.
The humor level throughout the movie was somewhere just below the Gilligan's Island Reunion movies (Escape From Gilligan's Island, Gilligan Meets The Globe-Trotters, etc...), but just ABOVE the humor level of the Brady Bunch Reunion movies (The Brady Brides, A Very Brady Christmas, etc... not to be confused with the theatrical versions with Shelly Long). Oh, and PLENTY of fart and urine jokes. I'm suprised Kevin Smith didn't have a part in writing this!
Freddie Prinz Jr. (Freddie) did a MUCH better job than I had expected, as did Mathew Lillard (Shaggy). But it seems that Sarah-Michelle Geller (Daphne) went to the Brendan Frasier school of acting, so it ended up being "Sarah-Michelle Geller as Sarah-Michelle Geller as Buffy The Vampire Slayer as Daphne". Hard to explain.
All in all, I'd definately suggest that you see this movie when it is free, on broadcast television, n a Sunday night, when nothing else is on television, and you have promised to watch *something* with your 9-to-12-year-old friends, and then only if they INSIST on seeing it.
