So I'm trying to pop a new video card in to [livejournal.com profile] khristle's computer to try and fix-up that blue prolem she's been having. It's an ATI Motherboard with the video card on-board. Shouldn't be a problem; just pop the new card in ot the lil' slot with the fancery lock-down provided on the board and be down with it, right?

But NO!

Event hough there IS a Video Card slot on the motherboard, it seems to be in THE WRONG PLACE! Tried two different video cards just to be sure; one an ATI and one an Asus, and sure enough neither of them will fit! The slot is about a quarter of an inch too close to the case for it to fit in properly.

Just for giggles I tried putting the cards in to the now dead Windows 98 computer and they fit in there just fine. So I know I'm not just crazy and not putting stuff in the proper place or something.

Any suggestions/help?

After giving up on The Mystery of The Slightly-Wrong Video Card Slot, I decided to take matters in to my own hands. Took the video card OUT of my computer, replaced it with the video card from her OLD computer, then put my video card (which is the OTHER type of video card that doesn't require a special video card slot) in her computer.

In the end, EVERYTHING WORKS! And I'll be returning the other video card to [livejournal.com profile] teegin with many thanks, but the equipment is not needed at this time :)
