Molly went to sleep before 8:30 (we had no choice in the matter) and woke up at 10pm. Once it was confirmed that she was COMPLETELY awake and not just a bit fidgety (sitting straight-up in bed, going back-and-forth between [livejournal.com profile] khristle and myself giving us kisses and saying "HI!" and insisting on "Pop"), Emergency Contingency Plan #1 was enacted.

Without a word, I got up out of bed and took her in to the dark living room. I turned on the Classical Music station very, very low. I got her some milk. And we sat, in the dark.

...Till 3am.

Other than the occasional "No, it's not time to play. It's SLEEPY time" warnings, our only interruptions were at Midnight when she asked for some Juice (which I obliged) and at 1:30 when i was overcome by guilt (poor punkin still awake and has been such a good little girl the entire 3-anna-half hours) and told her a few bedtime stories. After that she started trying to seduce me with her Belly Button (long story) and fell asleep shortly thereafter.

BELLY BUTTON SEDUCTION: Not as creepy as it sounds. she would be laying on me and whisper "Daaaaadeee..." then grab the edge of her shirt like she was going to list it and expose her Belly Button to me as she whispered "Belllllllleeeeeeeeee..." because she knows that 9 times out of 10 I'll HAVE to tickle her belly button if she shows it to me :)

So! Summary! She was a VERY good little girl who sat very calmly for an entire 3-anna-half hours in the dark with calming soothing sleepy-time music playing, then fell asleep after just a little bit of fun-time playing.

What do you think? Was it a success? Should we keep this as the contingency plan for when/if she wakes up in the middle of the night? Or should we go straight to playing tp try and tire her out quicker?
