My Brother ("Butch") is a Snap-On Tools Dealer. He wheels and he deals quite a bit with other Tool Truck Guys and Mechanics, and has won several awards and rewards for outstanding salesmanship by doing this. One thing he does to get new customers is offer to buy out all of the non-Snap-On tools and merchandise in a particular shop and replace it with Snap-On Tools and Merchandise. He also occasionally accepts barter instead of cash for tools, which is why we rarely ever have to pay for a Mechanic to look at our car. You never know what stuff he's going to have accepted in trade - his garage is full of stuff like Dirt Bikes, Go Karts, Giant Tool Boxes and other stuff.
Which brings us to my recent round of Ebay Auctions.
Not sure how he got them, but Butch has asked me to sell a very large collection of 1:24 Scale Die Cast NHRA Cars, mostly MAC Tools-sponsored drivers such as John Force. He said he doesn't care what he gets for them, just so long as he gets *something*.
So since I know nothing about these particular collectables, I put them up with an opening bid of $10 a pop.
Then i found the price tags that were on some of them... retail price was $80 to $100 EACH.
Most of them are selling right now for between $10 and $30.
So if you are somebody or KNOW somebody who spends a lot of cash on these things, steer them towards my auctions won't you please? Because even though he said he just wants to get *something* for these cars, I'm sure Butchie didn't mean that he wanted a 10-cents-on-the-dollar liquidation!
