Clean 45/15 x1, 20/10 x1

Yesterday Molly and I spent the WHOLE DAY at home (other than our 4pm trip to the YMCA). We watched a lot of "Fetch! With Ruff Ruffman" on Amazon Prime Video, and did a whole lot of cleaning so she could earn "Molly Dollars".

MOLLY DOLLARS are a precursor to an allowance for Molly, only with a decidedly modern twist that I think will better prepare her for the pay structure of the job market that she's most likely to be entering in her adulthood.

A traditional allowance is structured like a salaried position; you have a list of chores, you do those chores every day, you get a "paycheck" every week that doesn't change depending on how much effort you put in to your work.

MOLLY DOLLARS are a task-based system of payment where we negotiate how much a chore or chores are worth, along with a sample list of things she could redeem those Molly Dollars for that ranges from 1 Molly Dollar (Popsicle, Candy, Control Of The Stereo In The car, etc) to 10 Molly Dollars (Stay Up All Night, Camping, Trip The The Aquarium, etc). She's quickly learning that her desire for candy and popsicles can keep her from getting anything *good*, and also learning the value of saving her hard-earned money for stuff she actually wants :)

Also, this has gotten Molly very interested in helping me clean so hey that's a bonus right there!

Leveled Up

For just over THREE YEARS now, I've been trying to make right what once went wrong... and now my quest is ended.

See, Once Upon A Time, back when I was trying to decide between Pathfinder or Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition, a saw an entire shelf full of Pathfinder Core Rule Books at our local Half Price Books. Well okay, three copies. It looked promising, but since my buddy, Jeremy, worked at Wizards Of The Coast and had been setting me up fatter'n biscuits with every new D&D4e book for free, I figured that I'd always be able to find a copy of Pathfinder at Half Price Books.

A year passed where I tried - I really, REALLY tried - to love and master the new Dungeons & Dragons, but it just wasn't working. Meanwhile, started up a very nice campaign for us using PATHFINDER. HOORAY, all of my old D&D 3.5 stuff will still work, and I know I can find a copy of the Pathfinder Core Rule Book at Half Price Books! Matter of fact, the very next day i went to Half Price Books and found a copy - for TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS OUCH! Not willing to pay so much for a *used* copy of a book (and not realizing that full retail was fifty bucks), I turned up my nose and decided to wait till i either had a really good coupon or they decided to put the book on clearance.

That was in February 2011, the lat time I ever saw a Pathfinder game in a Half Price Books store.

Every time I'm in Renton, Bellevue, Lynnwood or Everett I try to find an excuse to drop by Half Price Books, just to check. I'd say I go, on average, at least once a week. That's over a hundred visits since the last time I saw one of these books in their stores!

Lately, I've stepped up my visits to the Bellevue location for two very legitimate reasons; it's very close to my allergist that I visit twice a week for my allergy shots, and they have a SUPER CRAZY comics clearance box where the comics are ten-cent each or TWENTY FOR A DOLLAR.

Can't pass up nickel comics... what would my Grandpa have said?

Molly and I *love* to go through the comics and pick out the best ones. I am seriously in love with these twice-a-week trips! Every trip we go get comics, then we look at the games, then I swing by the RPG shelf on our way to the cash register. It's always a bust, but it never hurts to look...

...Except for when you're broke and can only afford one dollar worth of comics. Because THEN and ONLY THEN will they have a copy of the book you've been searching for!

AND NOW WE HAVE THE PATHFINDER CORE RULE BOOK!!!

So *now* what should I be looking for?
