More Death
Jan. 13th, 2014 08:05 amExtremely sad news last night - my Mom's first husband, the father of 3 out of the 5 siblings I have, Ed Miller Sr. died very suddenly at his home some time around dinner. His wife went to call him in for dinner and found him slumped over his work. There was no warning:(
I only met the man a fistful of times, so I have a very limited impression of him... He was the type of guy who could wear a gold chain and get away with it. He was the type of guy who could start a political argument and keep trying to come back to it even once everyone else had dropped the subject. He was the type of guy who would argue Star Trek with a young Star Trek Nerd even though he had no first-hand knowledge of Star Trek himself. He was the type of person who took a solemn vow every election year that if the Democrats won, he was moving to Canada :)
I have nothing but good memories of him - his power and authority were a HUGE reason why I was a Conservative Republican in the late-80's/early-90's, and when I think of the modern "Manly Man", I'll always think of him.
