THAT'S why!

Spent a bit of time sniffing about [livejournal.com profile] aquatwo's apartment after the convention, meeting [livejournal.com profile] spazzychic and little Sophie (who is just as cute as fine porcelain figurine you would buy at Hallmark or through the Bradford Exchange). Borrowed some movies, enjoyed conversation and a tasty beverage, then left. I like ot think that a good tme was had by all. I got my dinner and a car, after all!

But that's not the purpose of this post. Oh, no. The purpose of this post is to explain exactly *why* we don't go down there to play Magic with everybody. Forget about my gofy hours at work (which just went in to effect this weekend, by the way), forget about any anti-social tendancies (anyone who has met me knows I am anything but shy) and forget any thoughts that [livejournal.com profile] aquatwo or [livejournal.com profile] spazzychic somehow offend and/or displease me.

So we take off feeling good, talking about movies, wondering if we'll have time to watch them all. I start up the car and start drivibng towards the two giant Daleks n the International District. And I turn, oh, let's say right. And I drive. And I turn right. And I drive. And I'm turing, and I'm driving, and I'm in residential areas and I'm in industrial parks and I'm in an Idaho corn field and then I'm on Broadway and then...

Then I'm not on Broadway. Huh?

We do a U-Turn. Broadway is gone. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive? Oh crap. There isn't a city ANYWHERE in the USA where the stret named after the good Doctor isn't reminiscent of some sceene in Robocop or Bladerunner. I know it sounds racist, but it's not; it's just the truth. Go ANYWHERE and ask people about Martin Luther King Jr Street an they'll tell you it's the worst part of town. So we get off there as quick as possible.

We're residential again. We're residential. Residential, residential, residential, NEON SIGNS, residential...

And then, suddenly and without warning, I-5. Oh my lord, I'm on I-frickin'-FIVE!!!

And *this* is why driving in Down Town scares me. If not for the benevolence of the All Mighty, All Powerful Gawds of The I-5, Crystal and I would have been forced to live amongst the City Folk!

Though it sucks and it means we won't hang out much, I understand your angst with driving downtown. I hated it back when I had a car.

I am not vehicular, since having a car and living downtown is INSANE imho (no offense [livejournal.com profile] aquatwo cuz you have a good reason).

We must plan. Yes.

I now have Weekends. And since both Crystal and I are kid-friendly (for the most part, with the exception of the occasional tourrets-esque outburst, that just may be the realm in which we plan such excursions.
