Breakfast today will be mashed potatoes and Sausage Gravy! 6 points for 2-ounces of sausage, 3 points for a cup of instant mashed potaoes, and I'll round up to a full 2 points for the amount of milk and flour I'll use. It's a good rib-sticking breakfast, and I can round it out with a owl of Oatmeal if I'm still hungry afterwards.

See, this is the terrible part of any diet; as long as you've got the energy and enthusiasm of a New Diet going for you, you can always find time to cook a new meal! I wonder how it's going to be when I get to that "I don't wanna cook tonight, I just want something I can pick up and eat" stage. That's the stage that always kills me. I can TRY to prepare for it, I can TRY ro make up meals in advance, I can TRY to order only the right stuff at Fast Food Joints... but eventually I'm gonna look at that Small Side Salad and Small Hamburger and shink "Y aknow it would be so easy to just have a 20-piece McNuggets right now..."

Happens every time :(

I bet the microwave helps. Instant potatoes are quick and filling, and a can of corn nuked is very quick along with most vegetables too. Can you eat rice? Is that decent points? I have been getting these thai instant rice noodle soups that are really good and I bet they are better than regular noodles. I usually just figure out a few things that I can eat quick and easy that I like and save those for the times of distress. Can you have potatoes? My sister when she was on a diet would cut them into 1 inch bits and add salsa and a little low fat cheese to make a sort of nacho substitute and bake which was really good.

Potatoes are Da Bomb! Rice not so much, but I'll make an exception for Sushi :)

So tell me more about these potato/nacho things!

Which makes me wonder how my favorite cop-out dinner would stack up against the point system...

1. Toast tortilla on cast-iron griddle.
2. Put cheeze on tortilla after its been flipped so it gets melty.
3. Spoon on 2 heaping tablespoons (or so) of hot chili (warm in saucepan on stove.)
4. Wait until last second, slide off griddle on plate so cheeze is extra melty.
5. Add things like salsa, lettuce, salad dressing instead of sour cream... whatever floats your boat. I've added saute'd/grilled onions & green peppers before just 'cause.
6. Or not. I've done just lettuce chili & cheeze before 'cause I was too tired & brain dead to manage real food.

Usually 2 of those take care of me, depending on how much chili I use... But its been my favorite cop-out meal since forever.

Sounds like each one of those would be around 4 points... but nearly as easy to make as an order of Chicken McNuggets!

That's why I like it. You can make a slight effort & turn it into Haut Cuizzine, or use the microwave & be completely lazy....
