I know, I know... I'm speaking from a slightly older, "Old enough to remember the original Star Wars in the theaters" point of view. For those of us who grew up on a movie simply titled "Star Wars" (not "A New Hope") and had to live through "The Star Wars Holiday Special" and "Ewoks: Battle For Endor", these mediocre "Prequels" are just the latest in a long line of dissapointments.

The whole George Lucas universe is like a great big peer-group, and there's always pressure to go see whatever is the latest and the greatest. I felt like I had no choice but to go see Phantom Menace, and I also feel like I have no choice but to go see The Clones. It was the same feeling with Radioland Murders and Willow. I guess that's where my resentment is.

I mean, Pahntom Menace, in and of itself, I enjoyed. It was good sci-fi. But because I felt forced to go see it, I ended up resenting it and looking for faults. I didn't like that feeling, and I don't want to feel it towards this new movie either.

It's like George Lucas just pumps it out, knowing that all us geeks will rush right out and see it even if it's a steaming pile of doo. And over half the geeks will defend the movie to the very end simply because the Father of Star Wars made it, so it *has* to be good!

Of course, it could just be a mood that I'm in right now... I just started my diet again, and I'm willing to admit that my actions have never been closer to those of a female quadrapedic canine than they are right now :)
