I don't care if this is a "Spoiler" for anybody, I just gotta say that the casting of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark in the new Iron Man movie is just absolutely PERFECT. Could be the best Marvel movie since Spidey!

I had heard (I suspect from someone just trying to get my goat) that they were casting Jack Black as Tony Stark.

I'm interested to see how this one turns out - it's hard to make an "everyman" story out of Iron Man, which is I think one of the things they did pretty well with Spidey or the X-Men.

The big Jack Black rumor I had heard was that he was being considered for the roll of Green Lantern *shudder*.

But yeah, they can't do Iron Man as an everyman character because, well, Tony Stark is NOT an Everyman. He's a brilliant playboy industrialist weapons manufacturer. He's on the cover of Newsweek the same week he's on the cover of People Magazine. He's Bruce Wayne if Bruce hadn't lost his parents as a kid and gone all batshit-loco.
