I FINALLY got to see Donnie Darko (it was available through Netflix.com, of all places). Watched every square inch of that DVD, including all the deleted scenes, the infomercial, the infomercial commentary track, the director commentary, the video for "Mad World", the "Philosophy of Time Travel"... EVERYTHING.

You know a DVD is good when you CAN NOT get off the couch till you have exhausted every bit of DVD extras. Oh, yes, this movie was good. Until it is no longer fresh in my mind, it is now #1 on my list of all-time mind-blowing movies... which goes like this:

(1) Donnie Darko
(2) Evil Dead Trilogy
(3) Night of the Living Dead Trilogy
(4) Series 7: The Contenders
(5) Reservoir Dogs
(6) Back To The Future Trilogy
(7) Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory
(8) Rosemary's Baby
(9) Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
(10 Red Dawn

Feel free to post your own top movies for this category :)

Oh, my list of *favorite* movies is quite different though! No, this is my list of "Mind Blowers". The movies that make me sit motionless throught he ending credits, numb from the experience. The best of them will leave me sitting on the coush for a half hour afterwards, just sitin gin the dark, then getting up and having to go outside and make sure that the world is still there. You know... Mind-Blowers!

Let's see, though... just a plain-old top-ten FAVORITE movies...

(1) Gypsy (with Natalie Wood)
(2) Beauty & The Beast
(3) Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn
(4) Say Anything
(5) Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
(6) Mystery Science Theater 3000
(7) Kevin Smith films (Clerks, Mall Rats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back... all tied!)
(8) Superman
(9) The Majestic
(10) AI
