Started up with my daily walk yesterday, walked from here to Wal-Mart and back for a grand total of 1.2 miles according to Yahoo Maps. I think I'l start over with my Walking To DisneyLand project as of right now so I know exactly where I am with the whole thing. It's hard for me to accept that I stopped my walking over TWO WEEKS ago!

And now a request for [livejournal.com profile] supernovame, who has the maddest-phattest Internet Searching skillz that i know of. Do you suppose you could find a website that will allow me to track my progress owards my goal destination? I know that it's 1, 184 miles away (bive or take a few tenths-of-a-mile), but I'd really like something where I can put in my daily progress and see stuff like what city I'm in. Like "Day Ten and I'm nearing Tukwilla", ya know what I mean?

It's an odd request I know, but if anyone can find it I know YOU can! Thnks!

Ah! A worthy Challenge!

Well, off the top of my head, there is a nice site:
http://groups.msn.com/LosingWeightWithFriends

They have a log tracker and lots of friends to cheer you on. It's sort of an AA for overeaters. I am a member there when I was more serious about losing weight. Not the best, so I kept checking...

The next thing I found was:
http://walkertracker.com

They have a lot better logging and tracking, but still doesn't sound to me like what you really want. Some way to visually see where you have walked to, on your trip to Disneyland.

Next I learned that it is 24,900 miles around earth, so after you get to Disneyland if you want to keep walking...

Then I found:
http://www.goruneasy.com/

That's the one. It has google maps, you can really map out the streets and everything you would be running down, keep track of where you are distance wise, and even invite others to join you on your run. Looks pretty cool too!

So, it was a good challenge, took me almost 3 hours between calls! Been really busy here today. Is this what you were looking for?

Thanks for all the effort! Unfortunately, none of those were exactly what i was looking for. The Rebok site just draws a straight line from point A to point B for me, I'd need to take the time to plot my own course and even THEN it wouldn't keep track of my progress for me :(

I think I've decided to just use Google Maps and do the math on my own to see where I've walked to each day. That shoudl work. I need to make nice with a programer-type person who can make a Google interface that would do what I'm looking for; I put in my starting point and my destination, then I put in the amount I walk on a daily basis. It would then notify me (via e-mail or maybe a pop-up) of milestones I've reached, such as "Congratulations! You just made it to Portland! Only 1,546 miles to go! While in Portland you may want to visit..." Ya know what I'm saying?

Yeah, it was hard to find exactly what you wanted. You might try joining one of the websites I mentioned or I have heard that this one: http://traineo.com/ is one of the best, then on that website suggest what you want as a neat option, and you may get some good results from a programmer on those sites that sets that up.
