CALPHALON (the "PH" is for "PHUCKENAWESOME!!!)

My BIG present this year was a nice set of Calphalon Cookware!!! This is the super-expensive stuff that they use on Food Network and in professional gourmet eateries! I cooked Molly's breakfast n it this morning and what can I say?

-The bacon took color immediately and cooked evenly, resulting in perfect chewy-crisp strips!
-The egg scrambled-up fluffy and moist with no butter or oil!

Those are the things that were good about the new cookware that i think just about anybody would notice. But then there were a few EXTRA things that only a person who had been cooking on the stuff I've been using for the past 8 years would notice. Stuff like:

-No black flecks of Teflon in the eggs!
-The non-stick surface was actually NON-STICKING to the eggs!
-I didn't have to keep rotating the bacon so that the raw parts went to the "Hot Spot" of the pan!
-The bacon didn't bring itself to a boil before beginning to crisp!
-The handles didn't burn my flesh!
-I didn't have to soak the pans for two hours then scrub with steel woll to get them clean!!!

All in all, they are quite amazing pots and pans :)

I hear with that cookware that there are actually microscopic chefs that live on the surface of the pan in a great civilization. They see food land on them and must cook it to perfection to please the gods. The gods then grant them favor by removing the food and sending water to cool the scorching temperatures that plague them on the nights of the food offerings.

At least that's what Alton Brown told me, but can you really believe him?

Of course he did say they have a very sexy statue of Rachel Ray in the town square...

the only problem I had when I had access to pans of that nature, is that water took freaking forever to boil.

What she said. I always stop at the Calphalon display in Linen's and Crap just to stare longingly. Give me a Calphalon set and a KitchenAid stand mixer and I'll rule the kitchen.

Well, okay, you'll also need to give me a kitchen that wouldn't give a mouse claustrophobia :)

Y'know, the teflon flaking and the steel wool probably are a related problem :)

I have one very big very old Cast Iron pan that I've lugged around with me ever since moving out of my parents place, and I'vre always considered it to be a pretty good frying vessel but not much beyond that. It's not even CLOSE to being as nice as my Calphalon!
