Help a fella out?
Dec. 31st, 2007 01:47 pmYour Captain is having a pretty crappy day, so won't you go and visit Slinktopia so I can increase my population? Even if you've been there before, each time you visit increases my population by one (once per 24-hour period).

And wehat's so crappy about today? Just spent $300 on brand-new tires and then went to get our Emissions Testing done so we can renew our tabs in February. Unfortunately they can't RUN the Emissions test on our car because there's a known issue with the Ford Focus where the diagnostics thingee inside it won't showe as being 'ReadY'. And of course the fuckers at Harris Ford (where we bought the car) won't even LOOK at the problem for less than $150 with a promise that FIXING the problem will be AT LEAST $150 more.
Never a Ford, never again. EVER.

Date: 2007-12-31 11:49 pm (UTC)I would file a written complaint to the Ford dealership explaining that you can't get the car's emissions checked in accordance with the law because of a manufacturing problem with the vehicle. If it is a problem with the whole model they should be responsible for fixing it.
The other option is to go to a different testing site. Don't mention you had problems at the first one. They may just test it without any hassle. I've heard of it happening before. They should be able to test any car, with or without built in diagnostics. They have to test cars that are too old to have built in "thingees" after all. Putting it in print will let you explain the problem to the management without all the emotions.
You can also call the Problem Solvers at komotv.com and see if they can help you out. problemsolvers@komo4news.com
And I wouldn't judge all of Fords based on the Focus. It is a crap car to begin with. I've heard really good things about Kias though.
Feel free to judge them on being too expensive, and not competitive and not up to date with fuel efficient vehicles though. ;-)
