A Disturbing Trend

Now that you're up to date...
This morning I woke Molly up with the promise of an early-morning screening of her favorite film, Mary Poppins. She was delighted! She ran to The Coat Closet to get her Mickey Mouse Umbrella, not knowing that I had moved it during The Great Closet Wars. I told her "Oh, hold on honey! It's not in there! Daddy knows where it is!" and I then retrieved the umbrella from its hiding place, opened it, and placed it in the Hallway so I could go use the restroom before putting in the movie. Eventually I heard her squeal with joy at having discovered the Umrella, and a few short moments later she had joined me in the bathroom, showing off her pretty umbrella.
After wiping and flushing, we adjourned to The Living Room for our Movie.
And there, in the corner of the living room, was the Coat Closet, wide-open and with a good amount of its contents spilling out. Molly ran over to the closet and yelled "OH NOOOOOOOO!!!" Then she turned to our cat ("Huffy") and said in a sympathetic, pleading voice... "HUFF-Feeeeeeee..." indicating that she was just SO disappointed in her kitty for having gotten in to that closet behind her back.
- Molly received a Mickey Mouse Umbrella for her Birthday that she loves dearly
- In order to spare the lives of our cats and other belongings, said Umbrella has been stored in The Coat Closet for "Special Occasions"(ie "Rainy Days", "Watching Mary Poppins").
- Since our Apartment Maintenance Guys FINALLY fixed the doors to our closets, Molly has found that she can open said closet with ease.
- Opening of said Closet without express permission of a parental Unit is forbidden and punishable by a sentence of up to 30 seconds in The Time-Out Corner.
- Molly is NOT above shifting blame on to The Kitties in order to escape a potentially awkward situation

Date: 2008-02-15 10:29 pm (UTC)As for time outs, you are certainly welcome to do them how you like. Most people say 1 minute per year of age to get maximum impact. :-) Caleb just got bumped up to 3 minutes from 2.5.
