Okay, this is all theoretical here but let me know if you think it works from a Comcast perspective...
What I'm trying to do is get all the New Connect deals while still retaining my old e-mail addresses.
First, I go and subscribe to a Digital Cable and HSI package, whatever gets me the best deal (hoping for free install and maybe $20 a month for my first 6 months? Something like that?) and schedule install for as close to December 1st as possible. I tell them it's brand-new service, not an Xfer of services. The tech leaves me a SIK, I do the install and xfer my e-mail accounts over to the new address. As soon as accounts are Xfered, i *physically* take the old cable modem back to a Comcast Store and cancel service at my old address.
I know there's got to be a glitch I'm forgetting about... why wouldn't that work?
Wait, i think I remember... You can't xfer e-mail accounts from an active account! GRRRRR!!!
Okay, how about this... I seem to remember that there was a way to transfer secondary e-mails off of an account, like if a room mate moved out or something and wanted to establish his own account elsewhere with the same e-mail?

Date: 2008-11-07 04:35 pm (UTC)If it *is* a 2.5 ticket, I'm pretty sure they set up a "Dummy" account on your new address, keep your old addresses active and give the whole "3 to 5 days" for xfer of accounts... oh, and the "Be sure to back-up all your e-mails as they will be purged from our system during the migration".
HOW DO I REMEMBER THIS CRAP?!?!?

Date: 2008-11-07 04:58 pm (UTC)But yeah, I know that an xfer of service can get a ton of good deals, but often the deals for "New Customers" are even better. Like over the summer when they were giving away Nintendo Wii for new subscribers :) So basically I'm just calling in all my old contacts to make sure I'm getting not just a GREAT deal, but THE BEST deal :)

Date: 2008-11-08 02:15 am (UTC)Okay, looks like I'll forsake my captain_slinky e-mail address just so I can do a fresh install.
What types of deals have you got right now? HSI and Digital Cable, please... hopefully a free install and a cut rate of some sort for X amount of months?
