We were headed out today to go to The mall, get a bunch of batteries, take pictures with Santa, get Stocking Stuffers...

we *almost* made it to the end of the driveway.

I got out of my drive, only because the managers shoveled and sanded it.
The street right in front of my place is inches deep in packed snow and ice. I didn't realize how much snow or ice until I got to the corner of my street and 99. 99 is mostly bare and wet except in the center but the ruts and holes on my street right there nearly got me trapped. If I had been able to keep my forward momentum when I came to 99 there would have been no problem. But damn on coming traffic, so then I had to wait until it was absolutely clear before having to rock and gun to get out of the deep hole my front wheel drive was sitting in.

If I try to go out again, I'm going earlier in the day while everything is still very frozen. It's more like driving on sand then.

Damn snow!

I couldn't leave on my own if I wanted to. They finally plowed our street. The van is surrounded by a wall of snow, since it was parked in front of the house on the road. The bug is in the driveway... down a snow covered hill. I'm not even going to attempt to get it up that hill.

I did actually get to go out yesterday. My friends showed up in their Suburban and took me out for Mexican food and then to the store to pick up some essentials. So at least I was able to join the real world for awhile. Even if it was just a short while.

With more snow coming tonight, I have no idea what we're going to do. Other than curl up in the only room with heat and a door, watch movies on our "watch it now" Netflix box and sleep the days away. With any luck, we might be thawed out by the time Todd comes home... In February.
