Quote of The Night
Jan. 22nd, 2009 09:41 am"Molly, we DO NOT dunk the Remote Control in our milk as though it were a donut!!!"
I really couldn't be angry at her because, well... Remte-Dipping isn't exactly something that's ever been covered in The House Rules! No dumping milk, no spitting milk, no washing your hands in your milk... but have I ever once said anything like "DON'T DUNK SMALL HAND-HELD ELECTRONIC DEVICES"? Nope... forgot to cover that one.
Matter of fact, i had been teaching her to dunk her Peanut Butter And Honey Sandwich Crust in to the milk just a bit earlier in the day. I'm jut so glad that I remembered all of this before I made the situation go all screamy-and-teary!
I'm a strong believer in giving her "Freebies". She can do pretty much anything she likes *once* without having to endure the Time-Out Corner. She's new at this whole Being Human thing, she's just getting the hang of things. She's learning the rules. And really, she's been darned good at it. If i tell her something like "Don't immerse hand-held electronics in any form of liquid, please", she obeys from that moment forward. And she seems to know that if she DOESN'T follow that rule, she'll end up in The Corner.
As far as Two-Year-Olds are concerned, she's been pretty darned good! I *rarely* have to use The Corner :)
