COMPROMISED!

Logged in to my Yahoo mail account this morning and found a few odd things.

First of all, my Yahoo Mail Notifier plug-in for FireFox said i had no new messages when i actually had about 23.

Secondly, I had about 4 Mailer Daemon Postmaster Failure-To-Deliver messages amongst my spam.

I didn't think much of it at the time. Could have been a malfunction of the Yahoo Mail Notifier (it's happened before) and just your average Spammers trying to make me look at their message with a clever subject line.

But then i got an e-mail from my Cousin wanting to know if I had actually sent this to him because he didn't want to open it if it were a virus or something. Sure enough, I hadn't mailed him in YEARS.

So! Looks like my Yahoo mail has been compromised! Thankfully I haven't used it for storing an address book or anything since about 1998 or so. Password changed, hopefully damage will be minimal.

This is why I stopped using yahoo a little while back. I'm always paranoid of stuff like this happening.

Same as above. I got the email, but figured since I never hear from you unless it's through LJ, I would ask you about it first. Glad I didn't click the link :)
