Day Two was full of way too much awesome! Starting with:

After that, here's the short list of Highlights:

  • Having Wil Wheaton sign a book for me only to discover that i was short on cash, havng to come back and plunk the money down on his table while angrilly saying "There's your BLOOD MONEY, Wheaton... I hope ya CHOKE on it!"

  • My "Escalator moment" with [livejournal.com profile] nelbailey and [livejournal.com profile] tigernatch, them going up and me going down and then being swallowed in the crowd as i paraquoted Joel Robinson as he paraquoted The Wizard "I can't stop it I don't know how it works GOODBYE FOLKS GOODBYE!!!"

  • Being the only person in line to respond to Angus Oblong when he came in all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and said "There's my people... GOOD MORNING, PEOPLE!" Dead silence from the crowd till I waved back "GOOD MORNING, ANGUS OBLONG! WE LOVE YOU TOO!" or something to that cheesy effect.

  • Hunting high and low for a Red Pen so that Angus could complete a piece of artwork.

  • Finding, losing, and then finding again the Mythical Retailer Who Was Selling All Action Figures For $5. He was an awesome dude, giving away toys to kids and having a great time just being a retailer. I *had* to spend money at his table! Such actions must be rewarded!

  • Getting to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] teegin, even though it was never as a group.

  • Showing [livejournal.com profile] baeleth that not all prices are set in stone, and showing him that pretty much ANY ITEM that's priced at $40 can be had for $20 to $25 by the end of the convention.

  • The sad realization that most Suicide Girls suffer from "Cheerleader Syndrome" (see episodes of "How I Met your Mother" for details)

  • My last purchase of the day: Sifting through a box of comics, I turned to the retailer and said "I'm way too tired for this right now and the Con is about to end... will you take a dollar for the whole box?" Retailer said they couldn't POSSIBLY let it go for less than $5. I said all I have is $4. He said he'd be willing to come down on his asking price. I offered $3. SOLD! Long box of random comics for $3!

  • Giving my very last Convention Dollar to Jennie Breeden of http://www.devilspanties.com just because I felt that I needed to pay her *something* for all the awesome comic strips :)

It was especially awesome to see that the three guests I was most excited to see - Wil Wheaton, Angus Oblong and Jennie Bredeen - were either COMPLETELY SOLD OUT (Wil and Jennie) or VERY, VERY SATISFIED with their amount of sales (I heard that Angus had one of his best profits here this year). THAT IS SO AWESOME!!!

Great convention, now to try and shake off my ConSARS.

I had so much fun, despite my visitor being a sadsack.. I missed Frank Cho, I missed the BSG panel (technically I didn't but there was no more room left by the time I found the line). But I did meet Tamoh Penikett (BSG) & managed to completely humiliate myself in front of him.. more then once, even! Yeah, that was awesome.

I can imagine you there in front of him saying something like "Wow, Tamoh Penikett! I am a HUGE. I mean, *fan*. Huge and... not that I'm, y'know... *huge*, but... Would you... Hey! I can make a sound like a Viper taking off! Listen! VRRREEEEOOOOOM! Ha ha!"

... and then Security escorts you away.

Oh, no.. it was way more awkward than that. I got in line all pumped up & then I was like "Oh god, he's way cuter IRL.." and then I got suuuuper nervous, and I got up there & he was signing my picture.. making small talk about Dollhouse & such.. I know my face was red as hell. At the end, he just sat there looking at me for a couple seconds, waiting for me to conttinue the conversation, but all I could say was, "I THINK YOU'RE REALLY HOT!" and then I RAN AWAY. I actually ran.
Though, he did shake my hand & managed to barely get in, "You aren't too bad, yourself.." before I took flight.

On Sunday's photo op, I was slightly less awkward. Thank god. I didn't run that time, at least.

Wil Wheaton is either the most patient person alive to put up with nerds like you :-p or he truly is the Geek Pope! I guess if his blessing works we know he's really the Geek Pope, huh? :D How are those dice rolling for you? He has an LJ right? You should post your video as a response to his ECCC write up. :D

You know I've mentioned a few times you should have a geek blog of some kind. You have been using youtube more and more. Perhaps that would be a good venue for a weekly commentary from the captain on the state of gaming or comics or whatever geek joy fills your heart that day? :D

All of the Captain's friends should go visit the video on youtube and leave comments and give it 5 stars so more people will watch it. :D

You are The Man, Arnie.

I haven't shown this video to Todd yet, but I will as soon as he gets home from work.

Sounds like you had a blast. Did you get a chance to say hi to Alina when you visited Jennie Breeden?

Nope! Not at all! Completely forgot to! I remember having consideredit once while i was in line at 7am and thinking "What do i say? Hi you don't know me but I know Luke... uhm... Luke something... from the internet. He has a blog? And that comic strip about outer space? Spacefreighter 17 or something? He told me to say Hi!"

Yeah, my mind was for crap both days. I'm just lucky I wrote down and remembered to carry with me my list of missing Justice League comics!

No worries. It's all good. But I like the name "Spacefreighter 17." I may steal it from you someday.
