Game Night!
Jul. 26th, 2009 09:40 amWell THAT was kinda awesome! Same amount of people as usual, but only two or three members of "The Usual Crowd". Since only two of the 5 members from our adventuring troupe were there, Dungeons & Dragons was once again postponed :( The bulk of our Game Night BBQ was folks I have not seen in AT LEAST two years, and up to... ten years? WOW.
Longest absence was Lurch. He was my first friend at my Birthday Express job, whom I bonded with over comics and other geekly pursuits. He brought his 4-year-old daughter which was awesome because without her Molly would have been BORED BORED BORED.
Second longest was Jan Michael, whom I also worked with at Birthday Express. I trained him to be my replacement! We had many a long, nerdy night working the over-night there, enjoying cans of soda that had just a *hint* of cheese. He brought his daughter who is, by my best aproximation... 8? Last time I saw her, she was an immobile infant. MIND BLOWING!!!
And then the entire Oakes Clan drove all the way from Bremerton for the event. Todd and Andrea were the gateway to becoming the Alpha Geek that I am today. They became my surrogate family during the formative years between ages 16 and 20, and introduced me to the world BEYOND the occasional re-run of Star Trek that I had been exposed to so far in my life. Without them, there would be no Captain Slinky!
The rest of the congregation included series regulars Steve, Dan and Kanani with special guest-appearances by Freak and Alex. Special Guest Host, my niece Haley (who begins her Geek Camp with a Game Night.
Oddly missing was The Canadian... what's up with that?
Games played included Reapers (my home-brewed card game), Ticket To Ride, Fluxx and Apples to Apples.
BEFORE THE NEXT GAME NIGHT, I FULLY INTEND TO HAVE EITHER "ILLUMINATI", "ZOMBIES" OR "ROBO RALLY".
