Challenge Update
Mar. 17th, 2010 08:28 amBeen so busy with Convention stuff, I didn't have time for my Daily Challenge Updates!
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
FINANCIAL: Spent NOTHING, despite the alluring scent of Subway Sandwiches permeating the convention floor.
CLEANLINESS: Kept my Convention Loot contained to just around my favorite chair? FAIL.
HEALTH: After looking over the convention floor plan and estimating distances, I walked some 27 miles over the course of the weekend while carrying 25+ Pounds of loot with me for 20 of those miles. Based on hos sore and weak I felt all day Monday, I'm gonna go ahead and count that as a work-out! However, I won't count the distance in my "Walking To Disneyland" totals.
MONDAY
Didn't spend money, didn't work out, didn't clean... just sat in my chair ignoring Molly and reading comics. FAIL.
TUESDAY
FINANCIAL: SABOTAGE! I needed some Onions, and Crystal suggested that I go to JD's Market to get them because JD's is ALWAYS the cheapest. As I have mentioned before, they're like The Island of Misfit Toys for fresh produce. When everyplace else has Bananas for $1.99 a pound, they somehow have Bananas for 19-cents a pound. Spotty, starchy, tasteless bananas... BUT BANANAS NONE THE LESS! So I went to JD's to spend my remaining $3 and some change for the month. Found a 3lb bag of onions for a buck-fifty, took it up to the check-out and saw the sign; "NO DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD FOR ORDERS UNDER $5". Oh, snap :( So! 3 pounds of onions, 15 pounds of red potatoes, 4 Pounds of Baking Potatoes and 4 pounds of Apples later I had finally come to $5.11 worth f purchase. $1.33 OVER my budget of $20 per month. FAIL.
CLEANLINESS: One solid hour end of the day, split between doing dishes and trying to contain my new stack of comics.
HEALTH: 1 Hour on the treadmill for 2.15 miles, 1,152.71 miles to DISNEYLAND!!!
Also, my menu for the week got kinda screwed-up because of a dentist appointment and the unauthorized use of my Spaghetti & Meatballs dinner ahead of schedule. Working on getting that back n track tonight

Date: 2010-03-17 03:34 pm (UTC)Is this $20 for yourself or for your whole family? Because I'd cut yourself some slack since you have food that everyone will eat. Get to making apple pies and banana bread before it all goes bad! :D

Date: 2010-03-17 04:04 pm (UTC)FINANCIAL: Spend less than $20 per month on food for my family. I use the food bank and the gleaners, plus I can finally try to use some of the stuff in our fully-stocked pantry and two fully-stocked freezers. Since both me and the wife have The Lap Band and only eat maybe 5 ounces of food per meal, I think this is doable!
CLEANLINESS: Spend at least 1 hour per day on documented cleaning. This is difficult for me as I'm a stay-at-home dad and woould rather be playing with my daughter... but I'm gonna do it!
HEALTH: Going to go to the gym at least 4 days per week and keep track of the distance i have traveled on my hands "How far would I have to walk in order to get to Disneyland" totals, updated daily :)

Date: 2010-03-17 04:26 pm (UTC)Well done on the con workout. You can walk a marathon! Hmm. That might be an interesting goal. Is there a cancer walk or something coming up in a few months you could train toward walking? I won't suggest running because running is evil. Seriously, running was invented by Emperor Caligula as a means of torturing Christians. Cobra Commander still makes the minions who displease him run laps. Zartan could enter an Olympics. It might give you some motivation.
Is Molly any good at playing by herself? It is a skill she should have at this point so you say that you leaving her alone to do housework is actually for HER benefit. I would suggest that you give her a section to clean as well but I don't like being laughed at.

Date: 2010-03-17 06:10 pm (UTC)Right near the end of their parking lot, down by the old "Chevy's Fresh Mexican Food" restaurant (now closed) is the JD's Market. Lots of Indian/Ethnic foods, and the dirt-cheapest produce you've ever seen!
Molly *can* play by herself, but she has so much fun I can't help but join in :)
