I was asleep for half of it, but I'm pretty sure last night went like this:

1) Crystal slept *hard* while I was awake with Allergies.

2) I slept *hard* while Crystal was awake with Allergies.

3) Crystal and I found it difficult to stay asleep while Molly was kicking/screaming/crying because of the Allergies.

4) All three of us slept *hard*.

One result was generated randomly every 10 to 15 minutes for some 8 to 9 hours till Crystal got up and went to work. I decided to get up shortly after her since I couldn't breathe any more and just wanted to stick a pen in my trachea so i could bypass the scratchy-wool passageway of my throat. And I'm sure it was no better for Crystal and Molly :(

Springtime... BAH!

You are not alone my allergies have been epic this year as well. I did however find a bottle of small pills called Aller-Tec at Costco and they have been working wonders and have not been making me drowsy either. Most allergy medications I have tried over the years tend to not work very well, make me drowsy, or else create new symptoms like über dry nose and throat. This stuff just seems to work for me. Try it if you have not all ready.

I think that's the CostCo one we use... tiny little white pills? Generic version of Claratin? The Doctor suggested that since that one's not working we should try switching to the generic version of Zyrtec instead...

He is using the generic of Zyrtec...we are using AllerClear the generic of Claritin.

I know too much about this stuff.

There have been two spectcular uplifts in allergy meds in the past ten years - loratidine and cetirizine - both of them work for me, and I used to be completely paralysed by snotty pollen response. Some people don't do one - dodgy enzyme pathways - but I haven't met anyone who strikes out on both. Probably because they live in a bubble.

do you take both of them? Or just take one or the other? Currently we are all on loratidine but it isn't working anymore.

I tend to do one or the other. They both work for me so it's just what's to hand, really (or what I can get in a generic form - grrrr to "max strength" formulas that are just one normal dose). Your New World Pollen may be more aggressive though.

Try the other one before both maybe? As I say, some people reckon one is useless - the magic of varied biochemistry, maybe.
