The Christmas Ladybug

Swear to Gawd, this is all true.
While putting up our Christmas Tree this year, I discovered a happy little Lady Bug in the tree. She seemed very happy to be inside, and she crawled around on my hand for a little while and, in the true spirit of Christmas, I decided to gently let her crawl right back in to the tree so she could enjoy the Holidays with us. I certainly wasn't going to kick her outside - she'd FREEZE out there! And so she lived, for the time being, in the boughs of our festively decorated tree. All through the decorating of the tree, she crawled around and "Helped" by climbing on my hand, positioning the shiny ornaments just right and making sure that each light was firmly screwed in. Seriously, I saw her like *9 times* while decorating the tree.
And no, it wasn't an infestation. One Ladybug, happy to be inside and enjoying Christmas.
After a few days, I figured our little friend had become a light snack for one of our cats. But no! I was at the kitchen sink, washing dishes when she flew ever so gently right past my nose and landed on my hand! "Well hello there, Ms. Ladybug! Come to help me tidy up? No, you are our guest and I simply MUST insist that you sit back and relax while I take care of everything!" And so back to the tree I escorted Ms. Ladybug, where she crawled off my hand and went back to admiring the decorations.
Next time I saw her was Christmas Eve, while I was arranging presents under the tree. I AM SO SERIOUS! She just plopped right down on to the present that had my new Superman pajamas in them. She seemed to approve :)
Next time I saw her was Christmas Morning. She flew right up on to my arm while I was sitting in my chair and she admired all my presents. "Sorry, Ms. Ladybug... no presents for you this year, but maybe you can play with some of my toys?"
And then I didn't see her any more. Till tonight. Cleaning out the lint trap in our dryer after having washed our sheets. She, uh... she didn't make it :(
I feel kinda silly crying over an insect. But I also feel *human*, so that's good...
