Every time I start doing something creative (making a miniature garden, sculpting, writing, creating a game) I can literally *see* Jim Henson and Walt Disney sitting at the table with me giving me tips and pointers.

When I'm doing something practical and non-creative (cleaning, data entry, yard work) I feel completely alone and isolated.

Consequently, when things are too clean or uncluttered I feel less creative and more like I want to make a mess-nest around myself so Walt and Jim can come back and whisper ideas to me :)

I agree. I said something akin to this on Facebook yesterday out of frustration with my messy living room... something like "If you have kids AND a clean house, I bet you're totally boring to talk to" and guess what? Only the most BORING people I'm friends with on FB got offended!

Ellen runs an art gallery. I draw comics and although you could argue this, I feel that teaching is a very creative line of work. Chaos = creativity!

I like things to be at least somewhat in order. Complete chaos just causes distraction and frustration for me (I bury myself in my computer to distract myself from it, which doesn't make it better). But when things are reasonably clean, then my mind is free to do whatever. I can't cook in even a somewhat-dirty kitchen, though. My brain shuts down and I can't even get started until most everything is clean and in its place. *sigh*
