Ganked from the MiceChat.com Forums...

I have a great (imho) Monorail story that I'll share in the comments :)

Summer 1991 was my very firt visit to Disneyland, the year I graduated from High School. I wa staying with my Brother who had a place in Anaheim, and his wife had promised to take me to Disneyland *eventually*. Since she was a local who had grown up there and went to Disneyland literally *every day* after school (her Mom was the hostes at the "Chaos Chinese Food" restaurant right across the street from the Disneyland Hotel and got leftover tickets as tips all the time), she was quite jaded and not really interested in going there again.

So I decided to take myself to Disneyland one day while they were both at work.

I took a bus to a location very near the Disneyland Hotel, bought my admission there and rode the Monorail in to Tomorrowland.

I rode The People Mover, The Submarine Ride and Star Tours. Then they started blocking off Main Street for a parade and I thought the park was closing, so I got back on the Monorail and went home thinking that that was all there was to Disneyland and everything else I had ever seen, read or heard of was in Florida :(

Since then I have learned better :)

oh my I love this video. it still has the gondolas that go through the Matterhorn which I never rode, the old Autopia cars that I grew up with, the people mover, and the old parking lot. I'm happy that you were able to experience the people mover before it disappeared. I always loved riding it. Too bad you didn't get to see much that first visit
