Day 41: Disneyland

At this time tomorrow, we will be boarding the plan and on our way to Disneyland for a solid WEEK!
So there, uh... there may be a slight break in my proposed "Blogging Streak". But I'm gonna try REAL HARD to make a post every day, I swears!
Molly became quite distraught yesterday when she realized that by going to Disneyland she will be missing her first ever Classroom Valentines Day Party... she was so upset she even went so far as to say "I don't WANT to go to mean old Disneyland!"
A bit of old TV-Dad wisdom in the form of Reverse Psychology fixed that! I told her I wasn't mad, Mommy and I would miss her, but she didn't have to go to Disneyland with us. She could stay here at home... she'd need to walk to school every morning and walk home every night, all by herself... she'd have to learn how to cook... have to learn how to use the weird TV set-up we have... sleep all alone...
She was almost too smart for me, suggesting various solutions such as "Well Aunt Beth is coming to watch our house right? She could watch me too!" No, sorry... Aunt Beth is only able to come if we're ALL gone. "Maybe Karen (our neighbor) can take me to school?" No, Karen goes to work very early and won't be able to help you.
So at the time that she was seriously doubting the ability of a 6-year-old to spend a solid week in a house all by herself, I hit the emotional side. "Mommy and I are going to miss you SO MUCH... Disneyland just won't be as much fun without you there. I wish there were a way we could all stay, but the tickets are already paid for. And I'm pretty sure I won't be brave enough to ride any of the rides without you there to hold my hand...
"Daddy?"
Yes, Molly...
*sigh* "I *guess* we could go to Disneyland... you don't have to be afraid"
