Because I promise you that I'll ALWAYS run this stuff by you guys first :)

1951 Children's Book "You And Space Travel" -$5 at Etsy.com

This book has some of the most incredibly awesome retro "Atom Age" illustrations I've ever seen... this is the style and design that DEFINE "Retro" in my mind :)

1961 "Let's Go To A Rocket Base" -$5 at Etsy.com

Beautifully paranoid, this book starts out with something along the lines of "Of course you would never try to go to a Rocket Base because if you did we'd have to assume you're a Commie and shoot you on principle, but if you ever *did* get to go to a Rocket Base here's what it would be like" and then these two kids go on a kind of surreal. disembodied dream-trip to a Rocket Base where they get all sorts of information that Kuschev would kill for :)

1968 "Astronautics" - $5 on Etsy

This is a great "Space Race" book full of what was in 1968 all the latest technical speculation of launching an American in to Outer Space. Great 1960's pictures of space :)

I have other stuff listed as well, lots of science engineering books... but these are the ones I wanted to share right now :)

The illustrations in that first one are so characteristic of the era that it's almost like a caricature of the art style. Love it!

I know, right? It kind of pains me to see it go, but I've gotten my enjoyment out of it :)

Hmmmmm... based on the description of her writing style, I'd have to say that yeah, this is the same Julian May! How cool! Maybe I need to update the information on my page... it's one of the "Over 250" books she wrote for kids!
