Bleagh!

usually, I try to be annoyingly up-beat and glass-half-full optimistic. But right now, my life is nothing more than sticky fluids and intense pain thanks to a long mild winter that allowed all the vegetation of Washington State to bloom at once, giving me so many allergic reactions that even SARS patients are saying "Dude, you sound terrible"!

The one bit of good news is that I finally got my license back yesterday. YAY! A year and a half of using the bus is now at an end! And even though I'm sick like a dog, I DROVE yesterday! Box of kleenex by my side, i drove for about 4 straight hours. I looked a bit like a Rob Zombie illustration, all pasty-white, eyes bugged out, snot and phlegm flowing out of every facial orafice... BUT I DROVE!!!

Now all the bad stuff:

-I wake up every morniing with my face encrusted in dried snot, head laminated t the pillow by a gallon of partially-dried drool, and unable to speak due to the phlegm waiting to be pushed out of my throat.

-All though i have my license back and I could be going and doing things, my lighter-than-air head has decided that most of the day today will be spent with Jerry Springer and Rikki Lake.

-Tomorrow is my 30th birthday. The last days of my "youth" are going to be spent like an elderly smoker, wetly hacking and coughing in to the night. If I could even just go out and do *something* on my Birthday, it might not hurt so much to be "Over The Hill"! But NO! I'll spend it bed-ridden, wishing I were DEAD!

-They Might Be Giants is in town yesterday and today ONLY. I've been trying to see this band perform since about 1989, and EVERY TIME something comes up that makes it so I can't go! GRRRR!!!

I kow some of you think you've got it worse than me... you've had a baby, or you're having a baby (women always use that one against you when you're whiney)... but I'm usually so cheerful! Why has the Lord decided to smite me so???

Aren't those spring sinus reactions the worst? I've been dealing with a couple of gallons of snot a day myself.

AND I'm taking care of a newborn at the same time. (Had to throw that in!)

You know, you *could* have just used the line "AND I PASSED A HUMAN BEING THROUGH MY NETHER-REGIONS" to have made it worse!

BUT!

Because i am a *man*, my sinus reactions are much, much worse than any woman could ever endure. That's why we men are always so winey about things you wimmin-folk think of as trivial, like The Sniffles, Headache, and Cancellation of our Favorite TV Shows.

Alas, no woman shall EVER know the *true* pain of being sick when you're a MAN!

(it's the Sinutab talking, i tell ya... I'd NEVER say stuff like that if I was straight!)
