Dirty Dozen

Yesterday marked the 12th Anniversary of khristle and I living together, which is *basically* the anniversary of being married.

(Seven months later I proposed, and 9 months after that we signed the legal papers, but that was all just to make it official in the eyes of the law - we didn't *need* the piece of paper to tell us we were together forever, but it really comes in handy for tax, legal and medical reasons).

It always seems to get lost in a barrage of May The Fourth Be With You, Cinco de Mayo, Free Comic Book Day, Super-Hero Blockbuster Movie Premier, my parents wedding anniversary and Birthday stuff.

My biggest/fondest memories of this day:

-I had moved in to the new apartment that she and I would share just 5 days before on May 1st.

-My parents had found me a "practically new" mattress at a Hotel that smelled like a moldy diaper full of cigarette butts.

-khristle got really sick right from the beginning, with her body trying to adjust to all. sorts of new Washington State allergens in the air and the discarded Hotel mattress wasn't helping matters at all. Twelve years later, she's still fighting them :)

-She was amazed by all the fast-food "Collector" glasses in our cupboard (instead of regular drinking glasses) and I promised her that she would NEVER have to drink from anything that wasn't decorated with a pop-culture icon ever again :)

I remember taking the tour of our apartment, opening every cupboard, closet. I don't specifically remember the glasses but I remember the Enterprise phone. We didn't have a couch but I remember us sitting together where our couch eventually would be. I remember the flowery bedspread on the bed and thought that it looked so totally out of place. I remember falling asleep with you that night :)
