Some eleventy-gajillion dollars later and I STILL can't get a radio to work in the truck! To be fair to the truck, though, that's probably my bad for having tried to fix it myself, and the money spent on the truck hasn't been *directly* related to the radio...

Went out one morning and was unable to start it up; battery was dead. Got a jump-start, drove it around a little bit, parked it and the next morning DEAD. Dang it, that was a BRAND NEW BATTERY back in 1987! If these things are only going to last 25 years they need to put a warning on them! The battery issue may have been caused by the alternator issue, which caused a power drain somewhere, which was related to the battery issue, which was related to the alternator issue, which was blah blah blah NEW BELTS!

The first thing I noticed upon driving the newly fixed truck was that it *does* have dashboard lights! And you CAN run the heater and the headlights at the same time! Amazing what a properly fixed electrical system can do!

Next up was new tires, which made the guy at Les Schwab say "Dude, did you know your tires are kind of rotting off your vehicle?" They offered to replace them for $500, I said I'd think about it... then our friends at Discount Tire sold us a set of 4 new tires just about half the Les Schwab price - what has happened to Les Schwab? I wasn't even offered any Free Beef!

And so my truck, which is running *beautifully* now, still won't take any power to the radio. I think that entire wire-octopus has to be replaced, not sure if it's worth it because I'm getting REAL GOOD at singing to myself :)

Sorry to hear about the radio, but very happy to hear your truck is creeping back from decrepitude.

I have a suggestion for a work around. If I recall correctly, a while back you posted that you had found a Zune at a yard sale. If that is still working, you could get a power adapter and hook it up. There are small, inexpensive speakers you could hook into the ear phone jack on the device, and voila! A music device other than your voice.
