Remember that great upward mood-swing I was on? Facebook pushed me off of it, and I'm ANGRY.

So I'm dropping Facebook, again. Not even cross-posting there any more.

I'm @CaptainSlinky on Twitter, I'm captainslinky on Instagram, I'm captainslinky on Tumblr, I'm Captain Slinky on Vine... and on Facebook I'm Brian Pierce.

I don't like that.

Brian Pierce has too many family and other IRL commitments/connections to maintain and keep placated. I'll miss the occasional updates from some of my cousins and extended friends, but not enough to stay there.

Important parties have been notified. Less important parties will figure it out and come find me. Others, I'm just done with.

I found myself wanting to unfriend 90% of my "Friends", including a ton of family members, which would have caused a lot of drama. Then I thought "Well wait a minute... what would I be missing if I just dropped Facebook entirely?" and couldn't think of a good reason to stay there that wasn't already covered by one of the umpteen other social networks I'm tied in to. Sent PM's to the three people I only ever interact with on Facebook letting them know where to find me.

No drama, no finger-pointing, no grand exit... just *done*. Feels good :)

That sucks. I will miss you and your updates. And your comments on my updates, and your comments on other people's updates. I feel like stupid people have stolen something from me.

However, I respect your decision and your reasoning. Even if we didn't understand, you should stop doing anything that makes you unhappy.

EXACTLY! The mountain of grief, anxiety and dread i was feeling about Facebook just wasn't worth it, especially considering that the people I really want/need Facebook for are already in my real life world anyways :)

I'll miss your sarcastic replies! Ah, well, I guess I'll just have to move our sarcastic banter here. I understand the "ugh" aspect of being tied to people you don't necessarily want to be tied to on Facebook. I also appreciate the wonderfulness of just dropping out of it all. Hopefully this improves matters. Cheers Brian!
