The Dozen-Or-So Days Of Christmas 4 - The Problem With Flintstones

One of the few Christmas Specials I just can't suspend my disbelief for - A Flintstone Christmas. I assume it has something to do with the illogical concept of neanderthals from a few million Bee-Cee's would be observing a Holiday that celebrates the birth of a carpenter some time in the comparatively far-flung future. Flintstones celebrating Christmas = Earth Citizens of 2014 celebrating Xrdah'ayr The Galactic Conqueror Glorious Space-Liberation Day. I don't buy it, not for one minute!

Tcha. Are you saying I need to take down my detailed festive vignette of Xrdah'ayr's final glorious molting? It's taken months to glue on all the scales...

Well, you see, this isn't really the past, but a far-future post-apocalyptic neo-stone age well after society has been destroyed and is slowly rebuilding itself. So Christmas exists in this setting.

The Glorious Molting is actually borrowed from the Kortaan Empire tradition of shedding ones deteriorating exoskeleton after the yearly blood orgy. But really, it just doesn't feel like Xrdah'ayrmas without a glorious molting :)

I say go ahead and keep it!

I used to subscribe to that theory, the Zero-Point Timeline Theory of Flinstonian Chronology... which also explains why in earlier 1960's versions of The Flintstones they have giant birds that act as telephones yet in 1980's versions they have comparatively tiny rock-based cordless phones. It also explains why The Flintstones were middle-aged in the 1960' and then suddenly "Flintstone Kids" by the end of the 1980's. It's not an apocalyptic future - Time is somehow flowing in reverse for the Flintstones!
