I have these types of ideas all the time and never follow through with them, or when I *do* follow through with them they fail miserably. So I'll just post it here, safe and sound on Livejournal where no one will ever see it.
TABLETOP GAME MASTER BIRTHDAY PARTY! Are you looking for a unique and new idea for your next Birthday Party for a person who's not really into ponies, clowns, magicians, bowling or any of those other standard Birthday Party cliches? Then it's time to try THE TABLETOP GAME MASTERS, an epic adventure in Tabletop Gaming! Great for kids and adults of any age, our knowledgeable and friendly Game Master Crew will come in to set-up, demonstrate and play along with multiple tables full of guests playing any number of games from our extensive library! We'll bring along at least 20 different fun, fast-paced games including (but not limited to) Settlers of Catan, Munchkin, Pandemic, Robo Rally, Small World, Ticket To Ride, Agricola, Dominion, Super Fight, Fluxx, Forbidden Island and MORE! Heck, we'll even bring along Cards Against Humanity if you're into that sort of thing!

WHY YOU SHOULD HIRE US: My wife and I have years of experience planning, organizing and running gaming parties for large groups of up to 30 people at a time, running multiple tables with multiple games going at once. We create a fun, energetic environment where even the worst player has a great time losing. It doesn't matter if it's a group of rowdy kids or a gathering of jaded adults, we make sure that everyone has a great time!

WHAT WE OFFER: Along with our hosting and teaching games, we also bring along our giant library of games valued at over $10,000, and enough prizes, awards and trophies to make sure that EVERYONE at the party wins something special just for having played along. We are also able to provide extra tables and chairs for an additional cost, as well as everything from snacks to drinks to cakes - we will take care of as much or as little of the party as you would like us to!

So what do you think? Is that an idea that could even take off? Could a person make money doing this type of thing???

possibly?

Not sure if it could work or not... but there's been success with video game trucks so I'd guess there's also a market for this. I'd expect it to be hindered by gaming cafes such as Cafe Mox, Mox Boarding House, Gamma Ray Lounge, Round the Table, etc. all of which rent out space already for this sort of thing, and have large libraries of their own. I wouldn't bet the farm on it... but if cost is low to explore, it may be worth seeing if it's viable while maintaining other obligations.

Offering to run it at someone's home/backyard would be more convenient than them renting out a few tables at a gaming café. It sounds pretty viable to me. The only question is if you are REALLY willing to expose your games to the not so tender mercies of strangers.
