032 - Gay People Make EVERYTHING Better!

captain_slinkyYesterday I took the "In Walt's Footsteps" tour of Disneyland and had it proven once again that Gay People make EVERYTHING better!
The tour, by itself, was just fine and fully worth the price - even if the biggest thing it accomplished was to make me realize I could do a far better tour on my own. But that's just my pride showing, please ignore :) The tour is some 3 (or in my case, FOUR) hour affair full of a ton of great history, trivia and information that you *could* get from a simple Google Search, but that's just my opinion; of the 20 people in our group, I seemed to be the only one who *knew* all this stuff and so I just kept my big mouth (mostly) shut so the others could enjoy :)
Anywho... GAY PEOPLE! Oh how they made this better!
See, I had been one of the first people to get there and, being *me*, started trying to socialize and make some friends from the stone-quiet group.
First, the Globe Trotters. Tall, handsom 30-something couple from Oklahoma (no accent) who only stopped by Disneyland for one day as a layover for their trip to far-off Asia. They are traveling across the globe and have been everywhere from Malaysia to *Snorrrrrrrre*...
I moved along.
Next were The Twitter Twins, two 20-something Siamese sisters joined at the wi-fi signal. They are locals, it's the younger sisters birthday, they scheduled the tour *yesterday*. After much nodding and silence, I moved on.
Next was The Twelve Twelfth Men (and women), a dozen folks from Seattle who I explained my Seahawks Gypsy Curse to. They plan on watching The Superbowl from their hotel room rather than going to Disneyland, can you believe it???
Not my crowd, I moved on.
There were a few other folks as well, but no one that really stuck out at all... Until The Gay People showed up, Corey and Frankie. Whenever I would make a sarcastic or funny little side-comment intended mainly for *me*, they laughed and joined in - and likewise, I fueled their little amusements as well.
So I'm trying to put a point on just why I think Gay People make everything better, and it's all quite consequential; but in times like this, when I feel a bit seperated or not quite part of the group, it always seems that it's the Gay People who show the most empathy and welcome me in to their lives for a bit :)

Date: 2015-02-02 11:04 pm (UTC)I think perhaps gay people have to learn a certain level of "I don't give a flying **** what people think about me" to survive in our society (unfortunately), and that's a quality which usually makes people a lot more fun to be around. :)
