128 - Seven Years
Jun. 9th, 2015 08:23 amFor the majority of your life, you get ten years of each age - Ten years of being in your 20's. ten years of being in your 30's, ten years of being in your 40's, and so on and so forth... except for the first two parts of your life.
I have a feeling that maybe once upon a time you got a straight ten of everything - one two three four five six seven eight nine teen oneteen twoteen thirteen fourteen fifteen...
Then The Older Folks passed legislation addressing two very pressing issues regarding age. 1) We wish there were more time to be young and 2) The Teen Years are too difficult, both for those going through them AND for those observing them.
Teenagers are the worst, and we all wish they could stay "kids" for longer.
And so it was passed that Childhood would be expanded by three years at the cost of Teenage years being decreased to only 7 years of your life.
Some fringe groups insisted on further breaking down the Childhood years for the sake of keeping some sort of balance - Infant, Toddler, Preschooler, Kindergartener, Tween, etc) - but it was agreed that, yeah, The Teenage Years are the worst and NEEDED to be reduced.
At least that's how I figure that happened. Because Eleven and Twelve? Those are TOTALLY made-up words that don't fit in AT ALL.
