You know what my biggest problem with Darth Vader is? He's too humanized. He was a poor little slave kid! He was a Jedi Knight! He was in love! He has kids he didn't know about! He sacrificed himself to save his son! Awwwwwww, that's so sweet!
Remember when Darth Vader was a BAD ASS that you could really fear?
So... Kylo Ren. Here is a villain I can REALLY DESPISE. No, I take that back... not a *villain*, a CHARACTER I can really despise. I really hate everything about him, and not for *those* reasons!
He's an ungrateful little punk-ass brat who was given a position of power because of who his parents are. He's that screw-up manager at work that you always have to cover for because his uncle owns the company, the one who flunked out of college and walked right into the position right above yours at twice the pay. He's full of self-importance and righteousness. He's overly dramatic about EVERYTHING.
That "Punching myself in the wounded area so i can keep fighting and use the rage" is like the stupid douchebag at the gym with the "No Fear" shirt on shouting "UGH YEAH FEEL THE BUUUUURN UGH!" with each weight he lifts. Even when he's talking to the crispy skull of Vader, you just KNOW he's been doing that all day long in hopes that somebody will overhear him and notice how hard-core he really is.
Kylo Ren is a dangerous, despisable villain because people LIKE Kylo Ren are *the worst*. They're the ones who know that Drinking & Driving laws are for other people who can't hold their liquor. They're the ones who CAN'T put their cell phones on silent during the movie because what if they get an important phone call? They're the ones who don't see the big deal in taking a full cart of groceries through the 9-items-or-less line.
Kylo Ren is THE WORST.

Date: 2016-01-04 05:04 am (UTC)Personally, I'm trying to ignore Episodes 1-3. I think Disney is also; which is probably why they ditched Lucas' story idea. I didn't need those movies; I already knew how it would end.
Kylo IS a whiny, entitled little bully. It's kind of telling when the highly disciplined StormTroopers decide to turn around and walk the other way when they hear him destroying government property.
Sorry Leia, I think the only way you are getting your son back is in a body bag.
