077 - Stepping It Up Checklist
Jun. 14th, 2016 08:07 amSince Oddmall was such a hit, it's been decided that I need to "step it up" and do this whole lamp-thing as an actual income source. Bu what exactly do I need to do?
That's all i can think of right now... this post is just here as a reminder for me, so if you think of anything I've forgotten, let me know!
- Clean/Organize my workshop area
- Upgrade our vehicle to a Minivan
- Figure out a cheap and easy way to ship my lamps, probably via one of those places like "Mailboxes Etc" or "Pony Express", just go ahead and let the professionals wrap-n-ship. It may not be cheap, but that certainly is the easiest way to do it... so...
- Stop by Mailboxes Etc and Pony Express for pricing info
- Fix lamps that were damaged in transportation from Oddmall to Home (we had to cram everything in to one vehicle and there were casualties)
- Set up a separate, "professional" web presence that includes: Wordpress, Imgur, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and Etsy.
- Make a few videos for a YouTube channel, tutorial type stuff for how I make my lamps. Speaking of which...
- Make more lamps.
- Keep track of what i spend on materials, how many hours i work on these things, what i spend on going to various shows and whatnot - keep it all in a spreadsheet.
- **EDIT #1: Utilize the free advice of my gazillions of artsy-fartsy friends who have offered to help me set this all up legal-like, with business licenses and expense tracking and taxes and whatnot (Thank you, btw... and if you're an artist who knows that stuff please hit me up with your best tips and hints thanks!)
