Circumstances put me in the vicinity of an AMC theater today, so I checked the Moviepass App and saw that there was only one movie showing - Super Troopers 2.
I enjoyed the original Super Troopers. Seventeen years ago when it came out. I figured I would probably enjoy this film, right?
The AMC Theater I visited as cushy, reclining leather seats in about 3/4ths of their 16 Screens, but the film that dozens of stoners some 17 years ago would have gladly paid 99-cents to rent, Super Troopers 2, does not warrant a screening in such a theater. There I sat in this old, tattered, non-reclining 1998 theater seat, all alone in a deserted theater. Utterly, unavoidably, deservedly *alone* in a room full of 119 deliberately empty seats.
I left after 20 minutes, when I realized that I was waiting for laughs that would never come. Oh, they TRIED... I mean, I could tell I was supposed to be laughing at... something? All I could think is "I wish I was home washing the dishes right now".
NO COMEDY EVER should make you think "Man I wish I was at home washing the dishes right now instead of sitting through this".
