The Polyphonic Spree
Apr. 22nd, 2004 03:32 pmHave you seen David Bowie's opening act, The Polyphonic Spree? NBC decided to bombard us with them on Tuesday night with appearances on both "Scrubs" and "The Tonight Show". The music they sing is catchy and upbeat and pretty and unique, don't get me wrong... but am I the only person that is totaly creeped out by their Manson Family/Koresh/Heavens Gate/Jim Jones/Cult vibe? I am creeped out by them much more than I was ever creeped out by Marilyn Manson... Marilyn Manson was just one of those attention-loving media whores who would do anything to shock people.
But The Polyphonic Spree? They have the combined energy of the Hare-Krichnas(sp?) and a Christian Teen Coalition Youth Group, combined with several doses of "Red Bennies", "Goofballs", "Yellow Jackets", and "Cross-Tops". Oh, and about 27 cans of whip cream worth of Whip-Hits. And some Model Glue.
THEY are the ones who serve me my dinner of cyanide Kool Aid and Phenobarbitol Pudding in my recouring nightmares.
THEY are the ones who will slit my throat with a smile because life without believing in THEIR Lord isn't life at all, and they consider it a mercy killing.
THEY creep me out, and I can hardly wait to get their entire album.
