Drowning my sorrows
Jul. 25th, 2004 05:51 pmSince opening a Comic Book Store is sorta out of the question right now, I've been trying to cover up my dissapointment and depression with EXCESSIVE SPENDING!!!
I figured hey, since I'm not dropping $10k on a comic book store, I can afford to buy a few of the "little things" now, right?
So in my wallet right now, I have Reserve Receipts for several upcoming DVDs:
This indiscriminate spending has, of course, caused some friction. But we discussed it, and we're okay with it now. I just need to make A LOT of money on Ebay to cover my new DVD habit.
And why did I even decide on a DVD habit? I currently have over a DOZEN DVD's just waiting for me to watch them at my house! Stuff I never got around to watching, but I now own! Transformers Season 1, Batman: Mystery Of The Batwoman, Reefer Madness, Undertaker: He Buries Them Alive, At War With The Army, Dementia 13, and a score of others. When do I expect to have the time???

So in my wallet right now, I have Reserve Receipts for several upcoming DVDs:
- V: The Complete TV Series (this completes my collection!)
- Happy Days Season One (Back when it was set in the 50's, instead of being set in the early 80's)
- Hellboy (Because Hellboy ROCKS!!!)
- Laverne & Shirley Season 1 (Shirley... oh, Shirley... You helped me launch in to Manhood)
- Star Wars Trillogy (Because I *am*, after all, a geek you know)
- Ed Wood Special Edition (I *still* think this is one of the besty movies ever)
- Dawn Of The Dead Widescreen Edition (the new one... a VERY good Zombie movie that deserves to be in my collection)

Date: 2004-07-26 09:52 am (UTC)As far as the comic book store goes... I share in your pain. Maybe there's hope soon. I've been nagging Jim to set up a Comic Stop in the Bellevue/Redmond/Kirkland area for a few years now, but what does he do? He opens one in the Everett Mall.
Sheesh.
Can't knock him too hard for not giving the eastside back its comic book shop (they're all gone or horrible) when he's spent the last couple years establishing and running the region's one big comic book convention (Emerald City Comicon).
In any case, if this is still on your list of serious goals, you might want to give him a call. If he had a partner to open a shop up with, he might give a bit more immediate consideration.

Date: 2004-07-26 02:03 pm (UTC)I've watched the entire first season of Dead Like Me already and I'm loving it. Of course, customers of Comcast Cable who subscribe to Showtime can see the entire first series of Dead Like me in the "On Demand" feature of Digital Cable. Start the episodes when you want! Rewind, fast-forward, even pause! And all as a complimentary service to our subscribers.
(By the way, I work for Comcast now).

Date: 2004-08-01 10:54 pm (UTC)So as far as Comic Stop III (working title)... right along 405, you say? But where? Kirkland/redmond along that stretch couldn't support a shop (poor Evergreen Stamp & Coin)... there's no real commerce area until you hit the 85th Street exit. And even then, it's a bit sparse.
