As most of you know, my job is helping people with their Internet connections. THought I would post this in my journal just in case you missed it, because it IS important.

*** Attention ***

It's that time again! As many of you know, each year the Internet must be shut down for 24 hours in a few major metropolitan areas in order to allow us to clean it. The cleaning process, which eliminates dead email and inactive ftp and web sites, allows for a better-working and faster Internet.

This year, the following areas will be cleaned: Memphis TN, Seattle WA, Santa Monica CA, and Houston TX

The cleaning process will take place from 23:59 pm (GMT) on March 31st until 00:01 am (GMT) on April 2nd. During that 24-hour period, five powerful Internet-crawling robots situated around the world will search the Internet and delete any data that they find.

In order to protect your valuable data from deletion we ask that you do the following:

* 1. Disconnect all terminals and local area networks from their Internet connections.
* 2. Shut down all Internet servers, or disconnect them from the Internet.
* 3. Disconnect all disks and hard drives from any connections to the Internet.
* 4. Refrain from connecting any computer to the Internet in any way.

We understand the inconvenience that this may cause some Internet users, and we apologize. However, we are certain that any inconveniences will be more than made up for by the increased speed and efficiency of the Internet, once it has been cleared of electronic flotsam and jetsam.

We thank you for your cooperation.

Network Operators: Since the last Internet cleaning, the number of Internet users has grown dramatically. Please assist us in alerting the public of the upcoming Internet cleaning by posting this message where your users will be able to read it.

The convention is just a day away! I'm not ready yet! I'm not prepared! I'm stuck here at werk! GRRRRRRRR!!!

Gotta get our outfit made for Molly! We're ironing a bunch of comics logos to a plain white shirt for her, and putting a Supergirl Comic Book Cover front-and-center. She'll be so cute!

We also intend to get as many signatures in Molly's Baby Book as possible, a little momento from her very first comic book convention :)

I need a back pack. Two of them, actually; one for Me and one for Britt. I figure we'll load Britt's up with the water and food items, she can be our little pack mule, and then I can devote MY back pack to the transporting of important items (I'm taking my Supervisors $15k comic to get it slabbed and [livejournal.com profile] teegin's The Crow comic to get signed).

I need to meet up with Jon, my only co-werker who's going to the convention. I will meet his wife and kids, he shall meet mine.

What food items are we going to pack for the day? I hate to waste money on the Convention Food, but I also need something better than granola bars and beef jerkey!

And here's a list of the Panel Discussions going on both days:

On Saturday, there isn't an event that I don't want to see. The Slave Labor panel, the Sketch Duel, the Costume Contest... all stuff I NEED to see! I'll probably get in to the show, get my free stuff, then go get good seats for the festivities! But if I *have* to miss one, I'd probably choose to miss seeing the Slave Labor panel.

On Sunday I can do without the Farscape panel, considering that I've never actually seen an episode of the show. But DC Comics and Web Comics panels are pure GOLD! I'll be sure to be there for those :)

I wonder why there's no Marvel Comics panel this year? Also, since Jim Demonicos is now head poobah of PR at Image, why not an Image Comics panel?
