I waited and I waited

Didn't want to post it till the day was actually here for fear of dwelling on it too much (see previous posts), and now that it's OFFICIALLY June 15th I can be happy about it:

MY GIRLS COME BACK TODAY!!!

I pick them up at SeaTac Airport tonight at around 8:30pm! And then I will have a Schmoopie in my arms and a Molly on my chest and we will watch Doctor Who and Battlestar Galactica (which a co-werker was nice enough to burn season one of for me)!

And i will have FIVE DAYS OFF to spend with them!

I've missed them both so much! I've avoided looking at pictures of them while they're gone for obvious reasons (see previous posts) and can hardly wait to see their smiling faces once again!

The biggest lesson I have learned while they are gone? I'll nebver be able to leave them. Regardless of how much I might miss my privacy or my slacking-time or going to the movies or my sleep or my video game time or my comic books or Dungeons & Dragons or my Ebay selling or ANYTHING... I'll never miss any of that stuff as much as I missed my girls this week.

I may never let them out of my sight again!

BBC Sci-Fi

I've been reading a book from 1984 called "Doctor Who: The Key To Time". It's not another Doctor Who novelization, but a year-by-year documentation of the behind-the-scenes history of Docto Who from it's humble beginings in 1963 to (then) present day. They cover all the controversies and news items and social ramifications of The Doctor through the years, and it's really verycool! And in it I have found the secret of why British Sci-Fi always seems so much better than American stuff; it's the way they handle complaints.

EXAMPLE!

Let's say that the Citizens Against Indecency and Imorality in Broadcasting starts a letter-writing campaign against your favorite sci-fi show. "This show is deplorable in it's glorification of violence and horrific nightmare imagery and we demand that you tone down your programming immediately!"

THE AMERICAN RESPONSE: We appologize for the inapropriate content of our programming and how much it has offended you! Please be assured that the people who were responsile for that particular episode are no longer working for our company, and future episodes of our program will focus on non-violent conflict resolution and enforcement of strong Christian morals."

THE BRITISH RESPONSE: Piss off, yeh wanker!
