The Wizard of Oz had more Home Video releases (34) than Army of Darkness (19).

HOWEVER! Wizard of Oz is NOT the most released movie we found (Mad Phat Props to [livejournal.com profile] waygroovy and [livejournal.com profile] collisions for taking up the challenge)!

Some of the absolute CLASSIC films like Citizen Cane and The Ten Commandments have less than 20 releases each. Andy yet Basic Instinct has 25 releases.

To make up for that, Gone With The Wnd, Lawrence of Arabia, It's A Wonderful Life and Ben Hur all have over 25 releases each.

Terminator 2 has had 30 releases.

The Matrix has 34 (further proff that God is, if not completely dead, at least trying to take a nap and completely ignoring us).

It looked for a while that Casablanca was gonna e the big winner with 40 releases (FORTY!), but then a new challenger came in to the ring.

And so it is with GREAT HONOR that I crown THE KING of Released Media...

George Romero's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, with a whopping 42 VHS and DVD releases. And they're not even counting the two editions that *I* own... one from The Dollar Store, and one that was part of the "Classic Chillers 10-Pack" that cost me $15 back in the day!

btw, all data was collected by looking up a title at imdb.com and typing in "sales" after the title id # (for example, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063350/sales).

Any challengers?

Bought myself a T-Shirt at WalMart today!!!

I know that usually wouldn't be anything to be proud of, but for me it's a milestone; it's the first time in quite a while that I've been ale to buy a shirt "Off-The-Rack" at a major retailer! Most of the time I have to go to a Big-N-Tall store, or the Big Dogs Outlet Store, or some other such nonsense. Go to Goodwill and hope that some really fat guy recently died so I can pick up some new clothes.

But this... THIS is a REAL T-SHIRT! I'm the first person to have owned it! It is trendy! It is fun! It is a shirt that I am wearing because I WANT to wear it; not jus because "It Fits"!

Last time I had been small enough to buy off-the-rack clothes was before I met my wife, some SIX YEARS AGO when I dropped a lot of weight doing Atkins. Of course, like everybody else who dropped pounds on Atkins, I gained it all back plus interest.

This time, though, with The Lapband? SO MUCH EASIER! Only thing I've had to give up was carbonated beverages and my desire to eat until I could no longer move. It has taken maybe 2% willpower, the rest of it has just been a cakewalk.

If you're on my Friends List and you're obese to the point where YOU can't buy clothes at regular store? i STRONGLY recommend The Lapband to you! It's downright LIFE-CHANGING!!!

Got a call from [livejournal.com profile] dotgirl earlier tonight to let me know that Kirk had died due to a Urinary Blockage of some sort.

Kirk was one of two cats that we, as a household, adopted way back in the day. One named Picard, the other one Kirk. If I remember correctly, Kirk was the first to be chosen and it was Picard who clawed his way in to being adopted on the way out the door. Picard had to go and live with a different family due to some "issues" that he had with The Baby, but Kirk was a trooper. He stayed.

Kirk was every bit the adventurer that the Star Trek captain he was named for ever was. He would leap, climb, kill and/or try to eat anything that got in his way. Had he not been "Fixed", he most likely would have had sex with many items as well.

He cuddled with m when I was dumped by That Chick I Flew To New York To Meet. He was very good at knowing when you needed a furry butt in your face to make things etter.

He was the first cat I had ever seen "Chitter" at the critters that would be frolicking across the front yard.

He was a cautious cat... if he came to you fr scritches then you knew you had really accomplished something good.

Despite how great of a cat he was, I'm having trouble drumming up a solid emotional response to his death because, well, other than the occasional birthday party or holiday gathering? I haven't really *seen* Kirk in something like 5 years. So I'm like...

...It's like finding out that best friend you had a HUGE secret crush on in the 7th grade is dead. I *want* to feel more emotional over his death than I do, ya know?
