Can't stop thinking of The Convention! Must blog advice to everybody!

First priority: Buy $10 worth of Quarter Bin comics. This serves three very important purposes!

ONE! It's time consuming and fun. Pull out every single comic that even REMOTELY appeals to you and then trim that down to $10 worth. Stuff that you scoffed at for $3 an issue is now readily available at the incredily low price of THE ENTIRE SERIES FOR $2.

TWO! It stokes the fires of your natural love of Comic Books. Thumbing through 27 boxes full of comics that are a quarter each sends you down memory lane and sparks interest where there may have been none before. I bought an entire run of Youngblood out of a quarter bin a few years back on a whim and was pleasantly suprised. Not worth $3 an issue, but at 4 for a dollar? Sure, it was fun!

THREE! Lugging a shopping bag full of comics through the convention makes you less likely to buy any more big-ticket items. "Do I REALLY need that Star Trek Phaser? I'm already carrying a shopping bag full of comics..."

If you're in the mood for Girls Scout Cookies, DO NOT search for Girl Scout Cookies on Amazon.com.

I'm warning you... seriously.

You're doing it, aren't you?

WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!?!? I told you not to do that!

But now that you've gone ahead and done it,m at least we can talk about it and what it means about our society...

One of the most overlooked and taken-for-granted items that every conventioneer should be equipped with is a good Convention Bag. For most of you a simple Back Pack will suffice; for me, I've graduated to a giant Superman duffel Bag that easily holds 3 cubic feet of product in the main compartment and has several outer compartments for holding smaller items.

Your bag NEEDS three things:
  • A Water Proof Compartment/Division
  • Comfortable shoulder straps
  • Durability

In your Water Proof Compartment (or in the water proofed compartment) you should plan on carrying Two sandwiches. Also in your bag should be a small bag of chips, a Granola/Candy Bar and a large bottle of non-carbonated sugar free beverage.

(I have had terrible, awful things happen to my purchases when I trusted a bottle of Coke in my back pack. No sugar, no color, no pressurization from now on. Water is the only way for me)

I suggest that you keep you bottle of water, chips and candy/granola bar in your main compartment of your bag so that every time you try to stow a purchase you are reminded that you need to eat or drink something.

My bag on Saturday will have two Baloney Sandwiches, a bag of home-made Chex Mix, some cookies and a 1-liter bottle of home brewed iced tea.

Also in my bag will be Wil Wheaton's "Just A Geek", my newly revised and updated Justice League Want-List, my Dice and a deck of Magic: The Gathering cards.
