Some of you will understand this and be able to help... others, not so much.

So I've had this feeling for quite a while now that we, the 30-somethings of The Internet Age, are at the center of a great Pop Culture / Sub Culture movement that will be remembered generations from now. Like our forefathers who ushered in Dungeons & Dragons, Comic Book Collecting and Sci-Fi Idol Worship before us, we have our own sub-culture movement that will live on as legend long after we're gone.

Those past generations had events and happenings that resonate beyond of their sub-culture origins in to the larger realm of popular culture. The first San Diego Comic Con that spawned SDCCI. The first GenCon that launched an entire industry of Role Playing Games. The first Star Trek convention that saved the entire Star Trek franchise from the brink of obscurity.

Those past generations had names behind those events and happenings that are known as legends; Gary Gygax, Forrest J. Ackerman, Sheldon Dorf, Peter Adkison...

Those generations brought obscure actors and artists in to the limelight and got them the recognition they deserved; they got treated as GODS. Jack Kirby, Stan Lee, Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner, Steve Jackson...

They didn't know they were building legends at the time, and neither do we. We have our own pantheon of Nerd Idols that all of us of a certain age and persuasion worship and will be remembered to the ages as having been a part of what we were.

But who are they?

I've been trying to narrow it down to seven Geek Idols; the seven people who are openly Geeky and have even used that "Geek Cred" to succeed where otherwise they may have been forgotten by popular culture as anyhting other than a footnote.

I've been trying to narrow it down to seven because I want them to correspond with the line-up of The Justice League of America. Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman (and Robin), Green Lantern, Green Arrow, The Flash and Aquaman.

(I know there are other potential line-ups for the JLA, but this is *my* thing so we're going with *my* JLA)

SUPERMAN: The one who is stronger than the rest, the leader, the one who has powers to match all the others. I've been thinking this one is possibly Patton Oswalt.

WONDER WOMAN: The strong female who can whoop any butt and look sexy doing it. This one goes to Felicia Day, no question.

BATMAN & ROBIN: The crime-fighting duo that most super-villains forget about and end up getting suckered by in the end. Torn between comedic duo Paul & Storm, or Adam & Jamie (The Mythbusters).

GREEN LANTERN: The Man Without Fear who had lost everything that mattered in his life due to his cockiness, given a chance at redemption by just embracing who he is. This one is Wil Wheaton to me in a nut shell.

GREEN ARROW: A rich man who never thought about where his money came from till he found out it was from making weapons of death, so he used his weapons to fight crime. Feels like Chris Hardwick to me.

THE FLASH: Police Scientist who gained his powers through a freak accident while he was working, uses powers to fight crime. I'm open to suggestions here.

AQUAMAN: Was just born with his powers; can talk to fish. Open on this one, too.
