Crystal and I are done re-watching Firefly, so NOW what are we going to do? We still have the movie to watch, but sometimes I like to leave that out of the equation. Just let the 14 episodes of the series stand on their own, let Wash and Book live...

So I have it narrowed down to three options, each with their own pros and cons:

  • SCRUBS - We started watching around Season 4, stopped watching around season 6, and now that the entire series in on Netflix it might be fun BUT if I remember correctly things kind of go off the rails in later seasons when the entire cast goes away and they focus on a new set of interns; I have heard that those final seasons are just unbearably bad.

  • ARROW - It seems that every day I read something about the CW "Arrow" series (based on Green Arrow) that makes me say OH MAN I NEED TO WATCH THIS, but I tried watching for a while and the first 3 episodes were *SOOOOOOO* CW (sexy angsty Gossip Girl Glitzy Kardashian BLAH) that they really turned me off. Is the whole series like that? I see NO POSSIBLE WAY for the show I watched to spawn heroes like The Atom, The Flash, Deathstroke and even a possible Suicide Squad spin-off???

  • SUPERNATURAL - We almost made it through the first season, ALMOST. There are glimpses of fun in there, and everyone says we should skip the first two seasons, but WE DON'T ROLL THAT WAY. We watch things in order! We respect the creative process! If we watch this series, WE WILL WATCH IT IN ORDER!!!

I now open the discussion for suggestions :)

I've heard a FEW times too many that the new Doctor Who (Peter Capaldi) is "too old", and that The Docto is supposed to be getting *younger*. But that's not how it works... it's more like how *you* evolve through life as well.

You can trace this back through the other Doctors as well, but for now we'll just go with the Four Doctors of the Modern Age - Eccleston, Tennant, Smith and Capaldi.

We start with Eccleston, a somber fellow full of guilt and trying to redeem himself. He finds a young companion who begins to fall in love with him, and at the time of his death he is thinking "If only I had been more open to this... younger, more adventurous..."

And he regenerates in to David Tennant. He's a young doctor, full of energy, full of life, full of love for Rose. In the end, as he is about to die, his last words are "I don't want to go". He wishes he had more time!

And he regenerates in to Matt Smith, who appears to be *even younger*. Only THIS time, he lives for some 400 years (or more, I can't remember the exact number but it's a lot), long enough to show actual signs of aging by the time he's ready to go (something no other regeneration had done before) and now... now he has matured.

And so he regenerates in to not another "child", but a fully mature man who has lived a life and is ready for more, ready to see what's out there beyond his own silly desires.

(at least that's where I think this is going).
