Not sure where to file this idea, possibly as a series of short stories or a video game? Role Playing Game maybe? I'm thinking of a Splinter Cell, Tom Clancy-esque approach to fairy tale villains. EXAMPLE: We have reports of an old woman, potentially possessing magical powers, who has built a domicile out of colorful consumables in order to lure in minors for potential pedophelic and/or canibalistic persuits. Our job is to gather enough evidence for a judge to approve a tactical strike and take down this Witch. Sometimes we will be authorized to "shoot on sight", sometimes we will be tasked with bringing in the suspect alive so that they can stand trial.
So the FIRST part of the game is a standard search-n-find puzzle game, trying to gather enough evidence without blowing your cover - stake-out, undercover infiltration, all that stuff.
Second part of the game goes all FPS Rainbow Six, with your SWAT Team raiding the complex and fighting off minions (magically animated Gingerbread Men, Candy People, etc) culminating in a Boss Battle where you stop the villain just as they're about to finish their fairy tale - Just as The Witch is about to be shoved in to the oven by Grettel, you bust down the door and secure the hostages while arresting (or taking down, depending on what type of warrant your evidence earned) your target.
Other scenarios:
A string of Home Invasion cases, possibly perpetrated by local youths, lots of theft and vandalism. Your job is to stake out the neighborhood of The Three Bears to determine the next target. Evidence will show a much darker plot where Goldilocks plans to torture and kill the family of her estranged lover, Baby Bear.
More later, I'm sure :)
